Ducks GM Bob Murray leaves, enter alcohol abuse treatment scheme

Anaheim Ducks general manager Bob Murray left a day after he was allocated on management leave amongst a probe into his workplace conduct. 

Murray arranges to enter a treatment scheme for alcohol abuse, the team and Murray explained in a statement on Wednesday. 

The 66-year-old Murray has been with the corporation since 2005 and has extended its hockey functioning since Nov. 2008, the third-biggest active occupancy for a GM in the NHL.┬áSource –

An individual with the knowledge of the Duck’s front office stated to The Associated Press that the beginning objections against Murray reminding the probe involved verbal abuse of team employees. The person said on condition of facelessness due to the team isn’t unveiling details of its internal probe, which is being managed by the law company Sheppard Mullin. 

“I want to apologize to anyone adversely affected by my behaviour,” Murray said. “I vow to make changes to my life, starting with enrolling in a treatment program. … As I step away from the Ducks, I will focus my attention on where it should be: improving my life for the betterment of my family and friends.”

Jeff Solomon, who associated the Ducks’ front office in May, will be Anaheim’s interim general manager while the club looks for an enduring replacement, owners Henry and Susan Samueli stated in a statement. Solomon, a longtime employee of the Los Angeles Kings and a previous player agent, will be in the power till the conclusion of “methodical, extensive” search, which could last until the off-season next summer.
