The University of Victoria repeals offline exams after rising in COVID-19 cases

Cancellation of offline exams at The University Of Victoria: 

The University of Victoria declared Sunday it is pushing its offline exams online to start Monday after a spike in COVID-19 cases on Vancouver Island.

UVic started Sunday that it caused the conclusion in consultation with the Island Health authority and pursuing “new trends we are seeing with COVID-19 cases.” Source – cbc.ca

Instructors will be requested to carry all assessments online or use them another way so that students are not sitting together for vast periods. Students will be notified of alternative formats by their instructor straight, the school states.

Before in the week, the university had advanced exams online for business students who were connected to two off-campus events where they were revealed to COVID-19.

University of Victoria cancels offline exams of students due to the rise in cases of Covid-19

Island Health did not announce an outbreak at the academy after the off-campus events but requested any students who attended the parties to self-monitor for signs.

“The increased flexibility to offer examinations online or in other formats will ensure that students can progress in their studies and meet the academic requirements of their programs,” a university spokesperson stated Sunday. Source – cbc.ca

The Island Health authority has noticed a rise in COVID-19 cases lately. It registered 127 fresh cases on Friday, the most of all the regional health authorities. 

The Island even has the second-highest numeral of fresh cases per capita after Northern Health.

UVic has stated on-campus social events, including vacation parties, will now have to be revoked or delayed indefinitely. Nevertheless, research labs, varsity athletic facilities, on-campus study spaces, and libraries will stay open with masking regulations in position.
